Is it legal for a supervisor to discuss performance reviews with other employees or customers?
jennifer_j_williams asked:
I have a supervisor that has discussed some performance reviews with other employees(same level as me) and customers. Also has talked to them about situations that we do not see eye to eye on. I also wanted to know if it is legal for a supervisor to suggest you go get medical treatment.

go get medical treatment is ok but the other i am sure its against the law. you can not discuss that and if you find the laws in the store you will find its not right or professional.
Wow, do you have my job? I’ve been going through the exact same thing. I’ll be watching this question, hope you get some good answers. If it isn’t illegal, it should be.
I would go one level above your supervisor and tell them the situation. Also if your job has an HR department, get in contact with them. This behavior does not sound professional at all!
I dont think it is legal at all. There are privacy laws that are in place and why would you do that anyway. If you arent doing your job as it is described and it is because of your condition they could suggest to get medical treatment.
No. It is not legal for a supervisor to dicuss performance reviews with anyone except the person the review is for.

It’s illegal to share confidential employee information, but simply poor management to discuss your performance with other employees. Just look for a new job, or talk to anyone directly above your boss about the situation. You should also confront your boss on the issue in private.
The discussions are probably not illegal, but are unprofessional and stupid.
Not illegal for the supervisor to suggest that you go get medical treatment.
