Why is it legal to defend yourself but illegal to defend others?

But if someone is beating the crap out of your friend or relative you can’t do anything to protect her. Why can’t you beat the crap out of the perp or shoot him in the foot or something? Why is it illegal?
I don’t believe it is illegal. Do you have a specific instance where it was illegal?
Allowing a crime to happen in front of you is as bad as if you committed it yourself.
Defend your friends and family if they are attacked, by all means, and deal with the lawyers afterward.
Remember the old saying: It’s better to ask for forgiveness than permission!
You can do it but with reasonable force. Shooting is the last resort only if your life or another persons life is in danger.
You have been misinformed.
If someone is in danger, you have a civic responsibility to protect them.
Unfortunately, you will have to prove it, and deal with the lies of his attorney.
Fortunately, you can grin at him and his black eye from across the courtroom while you stick his butt in jail.
Because in the new law of society, it is wrong to be violent in any way, even if it’s for the defense of another. The law is trying to bring their control over you by taking away some of your rights to act on your own.
